Body of man involved in crash discovered by search teams

KAUFMAN, Texas β€” UPDATE β€” The body of missing man, 40-year-old Logan Jacinto, was located by search teams on Sunday, January 7, 2024.

ORIGINAL β€” Law enforcement, search teams, family, friends, and community members are continuing a search for a man reported missing after a vehicular crash on U.S. Highway 175 on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

Around 8:35 p.m., on Tuesday, the Kaufman Police Department, along with the Texas Department of Public Safety, responded to a crash on U.S. Highway 175 near Jiba Road. There, a witness tells police, the driver of the vehicle ran from the scene of the crash for unknown reasons.

40-year-old Logan Jacinto was reported missing by family on Wednesday night, prompting additional searches of the area near the crash site by Kaufman County Sheriff's Office deputies and a helicopter from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Yesterday, January 4, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Texas Parks and Wildlife officers, DPS Air 1, Kemp and Mabank Fire Department dive team, and the Kaufman Police Department continued their search efforts, including the nearby creek and surrounding woods. Kaufman County Sheriff's Office drones were also deployed.

Family, friends, and community members have also organized search efforts in the wake of Jacinto's disappearance. A nearby church, Love Fellowship, searched as a post for volunteers.

Family members are asking any area businesses or residents to review any available surveillance video in hopes of finding clues to aid in their search.

A Texas Parks and Wildlife K-9 team will conduct additional searches Saturday morning, according to the sheriff's office.

A spokesperson for the sheriff's office says the investigation remains ongoing.
