CANTON, Texas — A fatal single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a 65-year-old Canton man on State Highway 64, five miles east of Canton, Texas, on December 27, 2023.
The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that Michael Miller, 65, of Canton, Texas, was pronounced dead at Christus Mother Francis Canton following the crash, which occurred at 3:59 p.m.
Miller was driving a 2002 Nissan Sentra east on SH 64 when he left the roadway and struck a concrete culvert.
The road conditions were reported to be dry at the time of the accident and the posted speed limit was 70 mph. Miller was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to police.
The investigation into the accident is still ongoing, according to Trooper J. Sagnibene of the DPS Canton. No additional information is available at this time.
