KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A freeze warning has been issued for North Texas and parts of western Central Texas, with sub-freezing temperatures as low as 27 degrees expected from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Tuesday, October 31, 2023.
The National Weather Service (NWS) advises residents to protect sensitive vegetation, outdoor plumbing, livestock, and outdoor pets from the cold.
The warning remains in effect, with frost and freeze conditions likely to damage crops and other sensitive vegetation, and possibly harm unprotected outdoor plumbing. The National Weather Service has advised residents to turn off automatic sprinkler systems to avoid creating ice patches on nearby roads, driveways, and sidewalks.
In addition to the freeze warning, the National Weather Service has also issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for North and Central Texas. The outlook warns of an early season freeze tonight, with freezing temperatures and frost expected to damage sensitive crops and vegetation. Near to below freezing temperatures are expected for all of North and Central Texas Wednesday morning, and another freeze is anticipated across East Texas Thursday morning.
