FORNEY, Texas — As the winter storm moves past the metro area, Kaufman County and local school districts will be closed on Tuesday, January 16th, out of an abundance of caution.
Kaufman County Judge Jakie Allen announced on Monday that Kaufman County offices and the Commissioners Court will be closed on Tuesday due to inclement weather.
Joining his decision, Forney ISD closed its doors on Tuesday and stated that students will not be required to make up the day as enough educational minutes are built into the calendar to allow for this weather day. Terrell ISD, Crandall ISD, and Scurry ISD are also closed on Tuesday.
Kaufman ISD, Mabank ISD, and Kemp ISD have announced they are closed on Tuesday and will have a two-hour delayed start time on Wednesday.
The City of Forney also announced that city offices will be closed on Tuesday, and the regularly scheduled City Council meeting will be rescheduled for January 23rd.
The City of Terrell announced that Star Transit services will be canceled on Tuesday due to the possibility of dangerous roads. The City of Kaufman has also closed its offices on Tuesday.
As of the time of publishing, no other closures were found.
