The crash was reported at 10:18 p.m. on Farm-to-Market (FM) 1641 near Monitor Boulevard and reportedly involved an 18-wheeler and an SUV.
According to the Forney Police Department, the 18-wheeler was traveling south on FM 1641 when the SUV exited the VFW parking lot into the path of the 18-wheeler.
"The two vehicles collided head on, causing severe damage to the SUV and disabling the tractor-trailer," stated the department.
The driver of the SUV, identified by police as 83-year-old Vincent Jaroszewski, of Forney, Texas, was transported to Baylor, Scott & White Hospital in Forney where he was pronounced deceased.
Both a heavy-duty wrecker and a wrecker were requested to the scene by police.
The Texas Department of Public Safety assisted the Forney Police Department in the crash investigation.
